Lillie Street
Just a little background story, Lillie is my grandmother on my moms side. She is my role model and one of the most influential persons in my life. Lillie Street started on the solid foundation of #Family and #Legacy. I wanted to create something that would carry on way past myself and create a legacy for my family. I wanted to inspire others to start their own journeys and to enjoy every detail of the ride. I’ve always been creatively passionate about life. It’s all about the passion, the drive, the struggle, the love, the motivation, the unity.
My Grandmother taught my family so many core values that I carry with me daily. The way she lives and leads her family gave me the encouragement that if she could do and be all that she is with the hand that’s dealt to her, I should have no reason to slack off in any area of my life.
I originally started Lillie Street on March of 2013. I’ve always had a passion for fashion and unique things. I started doing repurposed denim where I would bleach, distress, and rework the original look to create something fresh and new. I’ve always had a connection with vintage finds and looks so I would focus mainly on high waisted denim. (Go check out @LillieStreetCustoms on Instagram)
I was pretty plugged into the fashion industry in my area because I was a print and runway model. I wanted to be more involved with fashion and all that the industry had to offer. I was able to finesse my way into being a stylist for entrepreneurs and styled looks for fashion shows (meanwhile, I was still reworking denim). I then began styling my own shoots where I would shop for the looks, scout my models, choose the locations, and be the photographer for my work. Fast forward to May 2019 when I relaunched the brand as a Streetwear brand where I get to put all of the talents I’ve learned to use. My journey has taught me so much. Lillie Street brings me so much joy and purpose. As I look over my life and see the doors God has opened for me, my family, and the brand, I am assured that this was the plan all along.
